UABIT operates LISTSERV(R) and GNU Mailman automated list servers for general campus use. Each has a long history and large install base worldwide, and both products have advantages depending on their intended purpose.

We generally recommend Mailman for lists with predominantly internal UAB audiences, and LISTSERV for those with a significant external presence.

Where an automated solution is unnecessary and a single point of contact will be responsible for creating and maintaining the recipient list, use of an Exchange mail group may be a preferred alternative.
